Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Draft — pending final review. Wording may change before launch.

Siner is a Nostr client for creators. These guidelines describe what isn't allowed and how we act on reports. Because Nostr is an open, decentralized network, these rules govern the infrastructure Siner operates — our relay (relay.siner.me) and our media storage. We can't control relays or services run by others, but we will always enforce these standards on our own.

What isn't allowed

These categories mirror the reasons you can choose when you report a post or a person in the app.

Inappropriate content — sexual content involving minors (which we treat with zero tolerance, remove immediately, and report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children), non-consensual intimate imagery, pornography and sexually explicit material, and other content that does not belong on a public creative platform. Artistic or incidental non-sexual nudity may be allowed at our discretion.

Spam — unsolicited bulk posting, scams, deceptive links, and inauthentic or automated activity.

IP violation — posting someone else's copyrighted or trademarked work as your own, or otherwise infringing intellectual-property rights.

Offensive content — graphic violence, gore, or material posted mainly to shock, degrade, or harm.

Abuse — threats of violence, incitement, or content that targets people for who they are.

Harassment — targeting, bullying, or repeatedly contacting someone who doesn't want it.

Impersonation — pretending to be another person, brand, or organization in a way meant to deceive.

Misconduct — coordinated manipulation, evading enforcement, or other behavior that undermines the community.

We may also act on anything that violates our Terms of Service, or that is illegal where Siner operates.

How to report

Every post has a report option in its share menu, and every profile has Report, Mute, and Block in its overflow (⋯) menu. Choose the reason that fits and add an optional note. Reports are published as signed events, so they can't be forged in your name.

You can also Mute (hide someone quietly) or Block (hide them and stop their messages) at any time — those are instant, private to you, and don't require a report.

How we enforce

We review reports as quickly as we can and prioritize the most serious harms — child safety and credible threats first. Depending on severity and history, we may take one or more of these steps:

1. Warn — we notify the author and ask them to remove or correct the content.

2. Remove — we request deletion of the offending event from our relay and delete the associated media from our storage.

3. Suspend — we temporarily stop an account from publishing through our infrastructure.

4. Ban — for severe or repeated violations, we block the account from our relay entirely.

The most serious categories — child sexual abuse material and credible threats — skip the ladder and are removed and escalated immediately.

The limits of enforcement

Honesty matters here: Nostr is decentralized. When we remove content, we delete it from the infrastructure we run and broadcast a deletion request to the wider network, but other relays — and people who already downloaded the content — are outside our control. Blocking an account stops it on our relay, but the underlying keypair still exists elsewhere. We enforce fully where we can, and we are transparent about where we can't.

Appeals

If you believe we got it wrong, email support@siner.me with the subject "Appeal" and the details. We'll review the decision and respond. Anyone affected by an enforcement action can request reinstatement through the same address.

Reporting illegal content to authorities

Some content requires more than removal. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with valid legal process. For copyright complaints, see the DMCA section of our Terms of Service.
